During Black Friday in 2007 my son camped out over night at an Electronics store and waited in line in the hope that he'd be first in line and be able to buy a new 42" HDTV. It was winter time and very cold. He ended up pitching his tent in the parking lot of the store and right beside his station wagon. He used his station wagon to help stay warm but spent most of the night i the tent. HE ended up getting his TV.

Do any of your subscribers know the Sequoia/Kings Canyon of CA well enough to help me, my wife, my son and his wife find a campsite which could be available upon our arrival there? We are thinking of a trailhead with only a short hike to a backpack campsite. We are equipped to rough it and are not sure of our arrival time from San Francisco.

I've never gotten the whole, wait in line overnight thing either. There is nothing that I've ever wanted to have so bad that I've that. But I've got to agree, if you're gonna do it, make yourself comfortable.

The BEST cooking tool I use is one of these: http://www.campfiregrill.com

The setup is SO EASY, and they come with a bag that you can just put everything into for cleanup later. And just like it says...the food doesn't get lost in the campfire. I leave it set up the whole time we're camping so anyone can use it at any time, and it swings away from the fire when not in use so you don't have to put it all away when you're done using it. Great for the older kids who are always hungry...they can throw a hotdog or burger on for themselves at any time.

Friends have loved them when we've camped together, so I'm getting them as Christmas gifts this year. And...I saw a group of bikers camping out, and they even had one of the smaller ones cuz they were convenient enough to put on the bike!

A good shortcut for (and I think better than) traditional Smores. Use Le Petit Ecolier cookies (already have the chocolate on the!) and sandwich 2 with a nice toasty melted marshmallow in between! Delicious treat, and less messy than traditional smores.

Yes, finding the proper tent to best fit your needs is a good point, especially when you are coming in late at night to set up, what a job! with the limited selection of quality pop up tents there is 1 line that exceeds your expectations such as the Black Pine Sports Turbo Tent. If you are serious about purchasing a pop up tent, take a look at selection and you will be pleasantly surprised.
