Camping FurnitureAs technology continues to change and advance, so does the world of camping and with it, camping furniture. From modern gadgets and tools to innovative materials, camping conveniences are improving every day. This is great news for campers with disabilities, aches and pains or those who just prefer to be pampered a little, because camping furniture has become especially comfortable. Here’s what The Camping Guy has discovered about camping furniture:

Camping Chairs
When selecting a camping chair, be sure to avoid the most inexpensive models. They often bend after moderate use and tip back very easily. Coleman, Eddie Bauer and Crazy Creek are trustworthy brands. Crazy Creek has a comfortable long back air chair, which is unique. The seat and back are attached so that the weight of your seat supports the back. There are all types of camping chairs from upright with a footrest to camping chairs that let you lounge and have cup holders! Just like at home, watchin’ the game. :-)

Camping Cots
A camping cot must always be chosen wisely. If the cot is not heavy duty and taut enough, the middle of the cot will bow and you will likely wake up with a sore back. Some have just the fabric “sling” and others have a mattress to go on top. Depends on your required comfort level. Again, Coleman makes a variety of cots that suit most campers. However, if you already have a sensitive back, I suggest using a camping pad or two, instead.

Camping Mattresses
There are two types of camping mattresses. First is the air mattress. Coleman, Aerobed, Aerosport and Swiss Gear are reliable brand names in air mattresses. Air camping mattresses lift you off the ground, provide basic support and are very easy to use. If you are worried about a punctured or leaking bed awaking you from your camping slumber, the second type of camping mattress is a pad style mattress, also called the camping pad. These mattresses usually roll out, are incredibly easy to pack and are very convenient. Pacific Outdoor, Therm-a-Rest and Big Agnes make great camping mattress pads.

I started with an air mattress since I needed more comfort due to back problems. That was good for a while until I ran into a bunch of slow leaks!! Then I moved to a Therm-a-Rest self-inflatable. I let it inflate itself and then I blow it up a little more, screw down the air hole plug tightly and I’ve got myself an air mattress! And it’s tough and durable…. puncture- proof! Try it out.

Above all, find the kind of furniture you’ll be comfortable in, will last a number of camping seasons and fits your budget.

Happy Camping!
