Little Known Ways To Save A Boring Campout

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Girl Playing CheckersThe atmosphere is already set by the beautiful backdrop Mother Nature provides, the smell of the camp fire and whatever pleasurable foods you’ve prepared for the weekend. Want some easy recipes? But now what? The Camping Guy has some ideas for those camping moments when nothing seems to be going on.

The Obvious: Horse Shoes, Volleyball, Badminton, Card Games, Board Games and Croquet. These are all fun and engaging sports that anyone can be a part of. What makes them even better is how easily available and inexpensive they are. You can find them separately and in sets at any sporting goods store or retail location with a sporting goods section. A great selection of popular board games can be found at any toy or department store. The Camping Guy, however, suggests www.boardgames.com for cheap camp games delivered right to your door!

For The Family:
Hollywood Pictionary: With a large pad of paper and a hand full of pencils, each family member takes turns drawing their favorite Hollywood Stars. This is a great game for teams and giving away prizes like Electronic Hand Held Card Games, Portable Checkers, Uno, Game Balls.

Animal Antics: This is animal charades! Write the name of up to 50 animals, especially barnyard, onto small pieces of paper, fold them in half and put them in a bucket. After creating teams, have one person from each team blindly choose a paper and take turns acting out that animal’s behavior without making a sound. The opposing team members must guess which animal they are. The team who guesses the most correctly, wins!

Playdough Go: An amazingly fun game that costs very little. With up to ten small containers of playdough, each player must mold their dough into something. Pick a theme like animals, insects, shapes or toys. Then have everyone vote on each other’s sculpture. The player with the most correct votes (most obvious shape) wins!

Campfire Story Co-Op: Tell stories one sentence at a time with this great game! Choose any theme from Western or Sci-Fi, to Fantasy or Horror. Gather your group around in a circle…this is a great campfire game. First storyteller starts the story with a sentence and then the story is passed onto the next person who adds a sentence. Eventually, everyone will have added a sentence and somewhere along the way, the story has taken fun twists and turns to a fun ending.

Campfire Story Co-Op Toss: This is a slightly more exciting version of the game just mentioned. The only difference is, instead of the story going around the circle from one person to the next, the person who starts it off can say up to 3 sentences and then choose who must continue the story with the next sentence. An outbreak of laughter and happiness will most always happen. :-)

For Couples:
Couple’s Pictionary: With only a notepad and a pencil, you and your partner take turns drawing simple, romantically themed drawings like kisses, hearts, vacation spots, and other familiar sights. For each answer you guess correctly, your partner must perform a romantic favor. If the favor is too big to collect now, have your partner write you a rain check!

An Enchanting Evening: A board game for couples that encourages closeness, romance and passion with a roll of the dice and card choosing. Review and purchase this wonderful game at www.areyougame.com.

The Card Game for Lovers: A card game of choice and desire perfect for the privacy of your warm, lantern-lit tent. This is the perfect evening topper when you are under the stars in the great outdoors with your partner. It is inexpensive and can also be purchased at www.areyougame.com.

Happy Camping!

Love the tips! I’m getting prepared for a family trip to the Berkshires this summer and it’s my 6 year old first time. I’ll be revisiting this site time and time again. Of course I’m open for any tips too. http://www.familycampman.com
